Course Description:

Dam safety is not just the responsibility of the owner and operator of the dam. The
best way to reduce, mitigate or eliminate the risks of flooding resulting from normal
dam operations and dam failure is for the entire community to work together to
reduce the effects of a potential dam failure by increasing preparedness, reducing
potential consequences, improving communications and land use planning.
This course will teach dam owners, emergency service providers, emergency planners
& managers, land use and transportation planners, community leaders and other
members of the community to work together through upfront planning to reduce the
risks and mitigate the consequences resulting from a dam failure, and recover more
effectively in the event of a failure.
